Bottle at Café Volo, august 2006
Great mix of a porter, and an IPA.
Wonderful chocolate/smokiness of a porter, but at the end you get that great butterness of an IPA, great beer.

Bottle at Lush Life. Dark red brown colour with light golden bubbly head. Aroma is sweet maltiness, maybe even smooth and creamy, doughy, not so much hoppiness. Taste is spicy, lots of malt, ginger, nice bitterness, slightly floral and a bit of fruity sweetness too. Quite interesting. Something weird that I can only describe as being like a chai latte with a light chocolate flavour. Very smooth, and pretty nice.

Brown color. Light brown minerally nose with some floral hops and chocolate malt. Hops hit the back of the throat with solid bitterness and modest roasted malt character. OK

Bottle - Sweet chocolate and roasted malts with the tiniest hint of floral hops. Dark opaque brown with a minimal brown head. Roasted malts with a chocolate/coffee bitterness. A nice rich brown ale, but the hop profile is all but masked by the other flavours.

Has malty hops on the nose, sharp and spicy. Decent beige head and a brown-ruby body. Flavour is soft IPA notes with watery hints. Weak finish. It’s not quite working very well.

2011-03-13, bottle from Brewery Creek, Vancouver, the Hopbox, fresh, 6-4-7-3-13=33
Black color; small head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, dust. Dry mouthfeel, strong roasted malt flavor with hints of dark chocolate and dust; very strong bitterness, but the hops don’t shine.
Ordinary qualities, extreme character.
2009-06-12, blind tasting at Papsø’s, bottle 65cl, as Black Toque India Dark Ale, brewed in 2008, 8-4-7-5-15=39
Dark brown color with amber shades. Very nice aroma, hoppy, sweaty, with light manure and chocolate, interesting. Medium body, with strong chocolate and caramel flavor, strong American hopping too. Powerful and good.
The mark is the average between the two ratings.
