The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is chocolate, raspberry, coffee (dark), and malts. Taste is raspberry. Not too bitter. Kind of sweet. Not too thick. Interesting. But it was not anything mindblowing.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle dated January 5th, 2016. Aroma is like a raspberry truffle with lots of chocolate, both milk and dark, with a moderately strong raspberry aroma. Light roast notes and a hint of vanilla. Some light alcohol spice. Pours black with some dark brown hues and a small, thick, dark mocha head that quickly disappears. No lacing and medium sized legs. Flavor is similar to the aroma with lots of chocolate and raspberry. A bit more dark chocolate than in the aroma. More roast is present as well. Nice raspberry notes with a medium sweetness. Moderate to moderately strong bitterness. Some light alcohol spice. Faint vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a better tasting beer than the 4th anniversary, but that may have been because I got the 4th after it was a year old. This has nice, truffle-like characteristics. Very much a dessert beer with the raspberry shining with the chocolate.
