Available throughout the year, the beer is a golden copper coloured ale, which has a thick and creamy off-white head that laces your glass all the way to the bottom, leaving you wanting more. A marriage of Pilgrim, East Kent Goldings and Cascade hops presents a delicate citrus aroma and a unique spicy floral taste.

NERAX North cask festival. 11/16/2013 Haverhill, MA. Poured by gravity. Copper in color without head. Nose is lightly grassy with a toffee or caramel note, and a hint of fruit. Flavor is smooth and easy. Grain body, caramel and biscuit malt with easy, non-aggressive fruity hops. Hints of straw. It truly is a session beer you can drink plenty of but for me nothing stands out or makes me want to have another pint. Yet the flavor is amazing for the 4.3 ABV, maybe I drink to many big beers…..

Cask at The White Lady, JDW, Edinburgh. Pours clear amber with good white head. Toffee malt aromas, faint grassy hops. Taste has some balancing bitter to the sweetenss, but edges towards too sweet for me. Touch of honey perhaps. Bit thin and watery at the end.

Jake’s Place. It pours hazy amber with a thick beige head. The nose is earth, wood, brown bread and leather. The taste is brown bread, wood, leather, earth, leaf and some underlying caramel with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Decent balance and easy drinking, if not particularly exciting.

Aroma: Malty, grassy and peppery.
Appearance: Clear amber body with a medium white head. Light carbonation. Nice lacing.
Taste: Earthy, grassy flavours. Slightly spicy and salty. Lightly roasted pale malt and caramel.
Palate: Medium body with an oily texture. Soft carbonation fizz.
Overall: A really tasty Bitter. Quite straightforward but very drinkable. In terms of showcasing pale malt, it’s one of the best beers I’ve tried.

(Cask at Gallows Bird, 20120908) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had goo, hint of green apples, malts and toffee. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, green apples, toffee and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. I know this beer arrived very late for this festival and you can taste that this is not ready yet, unfortunately.
