On Tap at the Bellingham brewpub. Deep redish mahogany, thin fine tan head. Nice caramelized malt aroma, very little hop notes. Flavor is big time caramel and brown sugar, good ABV burn and a smooth not too heavy body. Barley bittered enough, tastes aged and mellow. Delicious.

Bottle from the brewery, winter 2012/2013, 9.6% ABV
Dark amber color, hazy, with medium sized head, short lived. Malt aroma, caramel, mild; some paint thinner; more was expected. Full bodied, with round mouthfeel; nice malt flavor, sweet, but not heavy as other Barley Wines; correct bitterness level, less than other American Barley Wines; the hop provides a light fruity touch too; warming alcohol feeling in the end.
Good balance; sweet and fruity Barley Wine, lean feeling.

Bottled 650ml (PBF, alc. 9.6%)
Nut brown color, small off-white head. Ryeish, caramelly, malty aroma. Full-bodied. Caramel, rye, sherry, some tickling alcohol. Liquerish palate. Probably few years old bottle. Quite nice, a bit Bigfoot-like big American barley wine.

Bomber courtesy of bvc pours clear sparkling deep copper with thin off white head. The aroma has firm muted nearly moldy grapefruit, mild yet assertive citrus hops, pine, a mild level of spicy hops and a touch of floral. The taste has loads of various hops with smooth spicy hops, pine, floral, grapefruit and tangelo. Beneath all those hops is a thin layer of caramel and sweet maltiness. Great balance, great smoothness and a great American Style Barleywine. Thanks Boundary Bay!

22 oz. bottle, pours dark reddish brown with a tiny beige head. Aroma of toffee / treacle, brown sugar, and lots of sweetness. Flavour is massive, full-bodied dark caramel / toffee, brown sugar, and raisins, with a big alcohol kick. A most excellent barley wine.
