A fisherman of yore, Old Bounder, sought strong ales with a vestige of the past. Upon discovering American barleywine, a goblet was required straightaway. Old Bounder barleywine is a rich, full-bodied beer with smooth caramel sweetness and bold hop character. The warming-alcohol content is exceptional for an after-dinner beverage or dessert pairing. Old Bounder is crafted for those who voyage for the finer things.

Draught, at the brewery
Even at a year old, this is still too young. Amber-brown colour. Toffeeish, brown sugary aroma with hints of pine and peach. Very sweet palate. Lots of brown sugar taste, with hints of vanilla, toffee, and pine. It’s got to be around 80 IBUs - you can tell there’s quality cohumulone there but this beer is soooo sweet despite it. A little bit of alcohol gets into the finish. Give it a couple of years.

Mostly malt nose with hints of alcohol. Full bodied carmel malt profile with medium alcohol heat and light brief hop finish
