A rich, copper ale with a case full of gold medals.
Our California Amber takes its inspiration from traditional English ESBs. Four types of malts give it a bold complexity, and our proprietary yeast strain lends it a fruity, madeira-like richness. However, it’s the American hops that give this ale a distinct bite and floral aroma that have earned it just about every major beer medal.

A nice Amber ale, better than most. The confusing thing with this style is that most people expect a hoppy ale from the look of it, but it’s more balanced than that even approaching the maltier side of the spectrum. This one is well balanced with a nice floral hop aroma and flavor along with a cereal and sometimes hay or grassy malt backer.

Draught. Clear deep copper liquid with medium off-white head. Aroma of citrus, toffee, bread, pine, marmalade, sweet malt, candy and caramel. Taste is light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of citrus, bread, biscuit, toffee and caramel. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Quite nice.

Bottle sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Bitter with grassy and citrus hops. Decent caramel malt backbone. Not bad.

Bottle pours out...well...amber and with a nice coarse tan head. Soft light toasted cereal grain aroma. Warm smooth malty flavor. A trace of bitterness. Not overly sweet. An amber with a little backbone. I like it

ours a reddish-copper, with smallish head. Some hops in the aroma, but mainly a sweet malty tang. Flavor is quite bitter, with some hops and tons of malt. Bitter aftertaste--almost like a cardboard or leather flavor. Rich and full mouthfeel.

24.07.2013, 0,65l bottle sampled @ BBGTC "best-before-last-summer-tasting":
Slightly bubbly creamy mediumlasting head. Aroma is slightly oxidated, caramel malts, butterscotch, dried fruits, sugar, hops, grass, citrus peel. Taste is slightly oxidated and watery, caramel malts, grass, grain, butterscotch, dried fruits, cardboard. Medium bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Kind of nice oxidation in this one, but it’s still old and faded.

Clear, copper-red with a large, chunky tan head. Malty, fruity. Taste is mild, floral bitter, spice, softly hopped.....caramel. Not exciting, but quite decent.
