DRK IS WEST's take on a traditional dark German lager, or 'Dunkel'. The rich, ruby brown beer is full of flavours of chocolate and nuts, as the heavily roasted malts are well-balanced by the caramel malts. With a dense and creamy head this beer has a distinctive malty flavour and a smooth, clean finish.

On tap at the brewpub. Served ice cold. Very dark ruby colour, nearly black. Low off-white head. Moderate and slightly roasty aroma. Moderately roasty flavour, notes of brown bread, not sweet, low bitterness. OKish, but not very exciting at all.

Draught at the brewpub. Dark brown, small head. Aroma of tobacco and ,olasses. Sweet and a bit thin with clean mouthfeel. Finishes with low bitterness. A primitive, lifeless attempt at a dunkel.

At the West Brew Pub, Glasgow. Ruby, thin beige head. Some toffee, fairly light in flavour. Probably the best of the 4 West beers I had on the night, but still needs to pack more of a punch. It is almost like the brewer is afraid that people will run from strong flavours.
