Bottle, 6.5%. Roast malt, liquorice aroma. Almost black colour, red shine. Big stable light brown head. The flavour is nice, roast barley, creamy, a little ashtray. Nice smokiness, not a lot, but distinct.

33 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Peaty to leathery smoked malt aroma. Slight sweet initial flavoured with a distinct smoked ham and bacon meady flavour following. Slight acidic and bitter roasted finish with a lasting smoked note.

Bottle, The Offie, Leicester. Poured black with a medium tan head. Aroma was roasty toasty with a big smoky edge. Flavour had bags of dark chocolate interspersed with the smokiness and some dark fruit. Finished dry. Very smooth. Good stuff.

Cask handpull at Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool. Black colour with very dark brown edges. Smokey charcoal and intense roasted malts. Has some old ale style sourness to it. Bit of tar. Finish has very dark bitter choc. In fact unbelievably bitter. Smokey, bitter, really quite harsh. Asked to take the sparkler off before pouring. Very popular beer in the pub, but for me, just a tad too intense and dark and bitter. Really quite aggressive. Real good sipper though. Took 40 mins to drink a half pint.
