The St. Marienthaler Klosterbräu is still a very special monastery beer today. On behalf of the St. Marienthal monastery, it is being brewed by the private brewery Eibau according to the old, traditional recipe of the Cistercian monastery. And with the first sip you can feel: This is a beer that brings old times back to life:

Can 50 cl. Golden, clear, white head. Aroma: barley and light malt, a drop of hops. Grainy taste, light malt, watery, traces of hops, sad.

500 ml can from Total Wine. Pours a crystal clear gold color with a white head and good retention. Decent lacing. Light pale malt aroma. Clean and smooth pale malt flavor with a touch of white bread and barely any sulfur notes. Medium body. Medium-high carbonation. No bitterness. A nice straightforward lager with good flavor for only 4.1% ABV.

16 oz. can, as Berliner Geschichte Hell. Pours a clear, golden color, with a medium, fine, off-white head. The aroma is straw, marigolds, light resin, cane sugar, and bread dough. Sweet and grainy, with a faint bitterness. Light, crisp, and dusty. Nice enough, but a funky aftertaste.

0,5 can.Nice looking can. Crystal clear light gold color, quite persistent white with a pleasant head. Full-malt, sweet, slightly yeasty aroma. (Not so good.) First sip is very watery. Second one too. I got a disturbing, yeasty, musty aftertaste. With medium carbonation. It wasn't really good, I expected better. Otherwise, of course, it's a drinkable, normal beer, I just thought it would be better. Light, simple yeast-flavored Dortmunder.

Nekem zavaró, élesztős, dohos utóíz jött. Közepes szénsavasság mellett. Nem igazán esett jól, ennél jobbra számítottam. Egyébként persze iható, normális sör, csak én gondoltam, hogy jobb lessz. Könnyű, egyszerű élesztő-ízű dortmunder.

Pour is a bright clear golden with a large fizzy white head. Aroma is adjuncts with a lager malt. Flavor is thin watery malt with a little lager yeasty sulfur thing. Super drinkable on a blistering hot day but not much substance here.
