Our American-style Barleywine undergoes a three hour boil to intesify the caramel malts and the enormous Pacific Northwest hop charge. The result is a rich, estery brew with toffee notes and citrus hop flavors layered throughout. Enjoy this brew fresh today or lay it down for aging to see how the flavors of each vintage evolve.

(Bottle) Dark amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of dried apricots, orange peel, caramel, resin, pink grapefruit, toffee, dark rye bread and a touch of maple syrup. Malty, hoppy taste with dried apricots, orange peel, resin, toffee, caramel, rye bread and a generous citric, resiny bitterness in a vinous finish. More than medium body, quite sweet. Solid malt backbone and a generous hop presence. Solid and well made American style barley wine. Very nice.

Poured from 22oz bottle a clear amber gold with a small head of foam that shrinks quickly but still leaves a fine layer right down to the last taste and....it has plenty of nice lacing.
The smell is a fairly strong mix of hops and malt with some sourish notes.
The taste on first sip has a huge caramel malt presense that is supported by good citrus hops and none of the sourness that I mentioned in the nose. Yum. The more sips I take, the more balanced the flavours become to my palate and it makes for some great drinkabilty despite the 10%abv which, btw, is surprisingly well hidden. I'm liking this one and I'll be sure to seek it out again when I next visit Colorado.
Bottom line: This is one solid BWSA that I have no qualms about recommending!

Vintage 2010, blue label. The beer starts intense sticky. Round and deep, refreshing with a nice and deep roasted body. Lots of sticky grain in the aftertaste, Sweetish with bitter hops. Deep, rich and sticky sweetish. Nice.

Draft at City Tap House. Dark amber, tight silky head. Boozy, malty aroma, mildly sweet. Taste leads with the booze, some nice caramelly malts, molasses and toffee. Warmth and plenty of it.
