From recently unearthed notes, drank March 2016. Bottle from Morrisons, Sidcup. Amber pour with an off white head. Bitter malt aromas, bit of toffee and citrus coming through. Similar approach in the taste. Pretty average.

Appearance: clea deep gold with a moderate white frothy head of mediocre retention. Aroma: biscuit, butterscotch, vanilla, floral hop. Taste: light sweet and light to medium bitter. Same profile. pleasant ending hop bitterness. Mouth feel: medium minus body, average carbonation. Overall: pretty different. OK. Not my kind of ESB I'm afraid.

Bottle from local ASDA. Maple and a hint of nuts in the aroma. Pours a bright copper orange with a small and transient white head. Lots of sweet malts in the mouth and tons of maple, Bits of caramel, toffee and citrus hops too. But they don’t seem to gel together at all. Some slight bitterness in the finish. Disappointing to say the least.

Bottle, from historic notes, source not recorded. Poured clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma was sweet, malty, syrupy, caramel and dried fruits. Medium sweetness and light bitterness. Moderate body, slight sticky texture, soft carbonation. Better than expected.

Bottle at home from Laithwaite. A good pour with a light aroma of maple. The first sip was that of a bitter which was immediately mown down by a huge and artificial tasting sweetness. Blurgh! I tried a few more and the sweetness become more overbearing and unpleasant. The rest was tipped down the sink.
