(Cask at Gallow’s Bird Real Ale Festival ’15) The beer poured deep dark brown and clear. Its head was small and almost white. Aroma had malts, molasses and caramel. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, hint of liquorice, toasted malts and bitternesss. Aftertaste had caramel, sweetness and bitterness. An excessively sweet brew.

Aroma as chrismasy spices and some licorice. Flavour has licorice, spices, and mellow menthol tones. A bit too spicy.

Cask @ Gallows Bird Real Ale Festival 2015
Pours dark brown with a smooth head. Aroma of spices, malts, cinnamon, licorice and ripe fruits. Taste is very spicy, malty and a bit stuffy with notes of licorice and berries. Finish is spicy and messy with some hints of licorice and cinnamon. A bit unbalanced.

Our last drink after three happy drinking days at The National Winter Ales Festival 2013. Half-pint, cask served from bar 3. Dotted sports to the glassware, Coal black body with a deep rustic shade. Aromatic with plums, raisin and dark malts. The taste profile brings spiced mid-sweet malts and dried fruits as well as anise and caramel offset by berries. Malt bitter aftertaste. Fits the season well (Manchester, 25.01.2013).

Cloudy dark brown beer. Light tan head. Semi dry palate. Sourish malt with a little citrus zest that dies away quickly leaving the malt which then gets a little sweeter. A hint of orange in the finish. Suppossed to have cinnamon and mixed spice - coulda fooled me!
