Bottle from the Broadmead, Bristol Marks & Spencer branch as part of a 6 UK beers for £10 deal, which proved to be excellent value. Golden in colour, with a slight, white, head, and moderate carbonation. Easy drinking, sweetish, beer, with some floral hops, hint of honey and gentle finish. Fine.

Bottle from Marks & Spencers in their own supermarket brand. Pale gold with a thin head. The honey offers a subtle drinkable sweetness and the ale has a medium bitterness. Malt nose.

At at tasting, thanks Roei, small bubbley head, clear golden colour, aroma of cardboard, pine wood and honey, flavour of honey, almonds and some bread, a little unpleasant bitterness. Drinkable but not too exciting.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Market Jaffa. Thanks tomer. As Marks & Spencer Organic Scottish Heather Honey Beer. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of graininess, honey, a bit of malt and some spiciness. Sweetish flavor with honey, some spiciness, malt, floral notes and a drier finish. Medium-bodied.

The M&S one. Clear golden colour. White, dissipated head. Aroma of lavender bath salts! No heather honey. Doesn’t even smell like beer. Taste is soapy and bitter. Not good.

Brown 500ml bottle: Marks and Sparks version; BBD end of Mar 14. Poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 2 Nov 13. Slight haze to this lager looking beer: golden with a white crown. The aroma wasn’t strong, but I picked up some unusual aromas: floral, mild honey and butterscotch being the main three. The taste was also delicate and subtle, again with a floral lead, some hints of honey sweetness and this time biscuits rather than the butterscotch hinted about in the smell. I enjoyed it: would I seek it out again? Most likely not.

Cask at Hootananny, Inverness, 18/10/13. Clear golden with a good sized off white head that retains well. Nose is floral, both honey and heather are evident, herbal notes, light caramel, sweet smelling. Taste comprises honey, floral hop, caramel malt, light grass, herbal qualities, touch of sugar. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, sweet finish. This was one of those beers I thought I wouldn’t enjoy but it turned out well, helped partly by good conditioning.
