Gravicask, half-pint, shared with Finn. Coal black body, bare naked surface, fragile lacing. Inviting roasted malty depth on the nose. Taste fine with chocolate malts, earth, and impacts of black coffee towards a well roasted finish, mid-sweet. Medium bodied. Likeable.

Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Black with beige head. Chocolate and nutty aroma. Taste also has a vanilla sweetness, dark fruits and a dry roast finish. Medium bodied, fairly slick. Good.

Bottle (gift from my brother) – drank at home. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a sizeable tan head and good lacing. The aroma is mainly roasted malts with some fruity hints. In the mouth it is initially very bitter indeed with coffee grounds to the fore. However, this gradually mellows and roast malts, dark fruits and traces of vanilla come through. Finish is still quite bitter though. This is a pretty good porter.

Jet black brown with a small beige head. Roast and dark malts. Much like the nose it is bitter and roasty.

Sample, thanks Grumbo.SPitch black, solid beige head, creamy and lasting. Milder chocolte nose, some nuts and more roastiness. Gently sweet start, medium bitterness, some roastiness in the finish. Silky body, medium full. Nicely drinkable.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Dark brown-black colour with reddish tinge, thin biege foam head and aroma of malt, dried fruits, chocolate & coffee. Taste is sweetish, dark malty, roasty, with molasses, chocolate, coffee and earthy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying roasty bitter finish. Quite OK
