Cask at Southampton Arms. Black/dark brown with a minimal head. Aroma is roasted malt, lots of fruit, maybe plums and a bit of marzipan. Taste is very fruity, vinous with a bit of cherry. Medium bodied and a bit oily. Cask@The Pembury Tavern, London. Deep rubyish amber colour with a small white head. Aroma is mild toasted malts, some fruits, raisins and mild dry wooden notes. Flavour is dry wooden notes with some mild fruity and acidic notes along with old coffee.

Cask. Pours a hazy dark brown with an orange hue and a small, rough off-white head. Roasted malt and dried fruit in the nose with a whiff of butter. Medium body, almost flat, notes of dried and overripe fruit, hard roasted malt and coffee. Lightly bitter malt finish. 180110

Cask at The New Oxford, Manchester. A hazy deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and toffee. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and toffee.

(Cask at New Oxford, Salford, 25 July 2009) Dark brown colour, almost black. Brief, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark fruit, coffee, dark chocolate and prunes. Roasted, malty taste with notes of prunes, raisins, coffee, chocolate and a touch of ashes. Generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Medium body with some sweetness lingering. Very nice.

Cask @ The New Oxford, Salford, Manchester M3. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty coffee aroma with some hints of chocolate. Roasted malty coffee and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty coffee finish with some salty hints and some hints of chocolate in the aftertaste.

Cask (handpump) @ The New Oxford, 11 Bexley Sq, Salford, Manchester England M3 6DB.Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, roasted, burnt, coffee, salty sea water, dusty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat to soft. [20090121]
