Since Day One, we've been abundantly forthright and fully transparent about our lust for hops. It's led us to craft many an IPA, most of them imperial—some intense for their time and all timeless in their intensity. For Stone Go To IPA, we embrace our hop obsession in a new way, funneling an abundance of lupulin-borne bitterness into a session IPA that delivers all the fruity, piney character of a much bigger IPA. To accomplish this, we employ hop bursting, a technique wherein an irrational amount of hops is added during the final phase of the brewing process to bring out extreme flavors and aromas while also imparting a burst of desirably pleasant bitterness. The result is an alpha-acid-rich beer that fans can enjoy more of without missing out on the assertive hop character you, like us, crave. So, sit back and go two with your new everyday go-to IPA and bask along with us in the glory of the almighty hop.
This beer employed the hop-bursting technique, which in essence is a hopping method where all or most of the bitterness in the beer comes from late hop additions in the brewhouse, like at the end of boil and in the whirlpool, instead of the more traditional approach where most of the hop bitterness comes from earlier additions at the start of the kettle boil. The result is a beautifully aromatic beer with substantial but somewhat mellow bitterness. Hop bursting also enhances the flavor retention of the hops, and combined with the dry hop, creates a very intense and complex hop flavor.

Draught. Pours slightly hazy amber with airy white head. Clear aroma of hops and citrus, with malty and estery notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour with notes of citrus and touches of yeast and malt and hints of fruit. Lingering, hoppy and grassy aftertaste with estery notes. High carbonation and rich body. Good.

From tap. Pours cloudy yellow, white head. Mild citrusy and crisp hoppy aroma. Sweet impression, but crisp hoppy and citrusy dry. Bitter and light fruity finish.
From tap in Berline and German IPA Madness, dryhopped with Callista and Hüll Melon. Pours hazy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is herbal, hrassy, straw. Bitter, slight herbal. Dry and solid hoppy. Bitter and dry far finish.

Draught. Mild citric aroma. Cloudy orange colour. Big stable creamy white head. The flavour has a little vegetable to begin with. Turns more into slightly papery malts with a decent bitterness. OK flavourful for the ABV, but I must admit I expected a bit more from this one.
Can, 4.7% from Berlin. Great and refreshing mango and grapefruit aroma. Almost clear golden colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is quite bitter with a mild fruity hoppiness. Mango like the aroma, but less so. More of the grapefruit note of the aroma. A little watery flavour also, actually, but OK for the ABV as mentioned in my previous rating. 7 3 6 3 14

(draught at BKL 2016) Hazy, golden colour with a blond mid-sized foamy head. Aroma is quite intense with loads of fruity and resiny hops, including notes of grapefruit, peaches, tangerines, as well as lighter grassy notes. Quite bitter flavour, light bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Initially delicately bready malty with an extremely present hops profile with loads of citrus, grapefruit, tangerines and lighter exotic notes; light but very tasty and hoppy finish. Taster pour at Craft Beer Race New Haven. Appearance is yellow with small head and lacing. Aroma is dank resin, citrus. Taste is as aroma. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with frothy texture, soft carbonation and bitter resin finish. Overall, strong aroma and flavor for a session IPA but West Coast Style is more bitter than I’d prefer.

A light yellow beer, a head is medium and blond. Aroma has grapefruits, some tropical fruitness and mandarin. Taste has grapefruits, tropical notes, the bitterness is nicely strong and long lasting. Medium bodied. Good beer, not a notes of low alcohol %.
