Cask (South Western Arms, Southampton) - Dark brown with red tinges. Blackcurrant and roasted malt feature in the aroma. Sweet taste with hints of blackcurrant, malt and dried fruit. Slightly thin and watery.

Cask (handpump) @ The Masque Haunt, Greater London, England EC1.Clear medium to dark yellow orange color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, moderate to light heavy fruity, apricot, light to moderate hoppy, lime. Flavor is moderate sweet, light light acidic and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20081228]

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto, JDW, Folkestone. Copper colour with lasting thin beige head. Aroma of cranberries and other red fruits. In the mouth its a bitter and tastes as though cranberry essence has been added. To be honest its pretty awful. OK condition and the base bitter is ok, but the artificial fruit over it, just does not work. I just do not like it.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] Deep amber with a dense cream head; rich aroma of stewed plums and apricots; intensely fruity flavour but not over sweet, silky smooth with a dry floury body - overall reminiscent of a well-made plum tart. Lingering bitterness and fruit with a touch of spice to finish. A different and excellent Christmas brew.
