330 ml bottle into signature chalice, best before 6/23/2018. Pours moderately hazy/cloudy reddish orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apple, pepper, ginger, coriander, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light roast, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apple, pepper, ginger, coriander, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light roast, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, cherry, fig, date, apple, pepper, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, biscuit, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from bitter/spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium-high carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly silky/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Alcohol is a very well hidden with only a mild warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an incredible Belgian strong dark ale! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, spices, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. A really amazing offering.

75cl bottle from Chez Sophie, shared @ MTG II tasting, at Rich’s Welfare Pad. Pours a deep, hazed reddish mahogany with good tan head. Aroma is Christmas spice. Taste is full-bodied malts with a high carbonation and well-integrated Christmas spices and a nice moreish sweet character. Didn’t expect to like this but like it I did.

Bottled at TNOD(U)RBSG2016. Hazy copper colour, mid sized head. Pumpkin and cinnamon aroma. Sweetish with medium-full body and rounded mouthfeel. Cookies, marzipan and lots of spices. Bold, lacking the subtlety normally associated with trappist beers. Low bitterness. Dull.
