Weissbier ohne Schaum? Test vom 11.6.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 5,11,11,8,7,10 - 9,35

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of wheat and citrus as well as lighter notes of butter. The flavor is sweet with notes of bread and wheat as well as lighter notes of citrus, leading to a dry wheaty finish. The body is light.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts strong-yeasty, sweet, fruity, like banana. Not too dry. Well balanced finish, mild, still sweet. Good hefeweizen!

33 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe/Ungstrup. Pours hazy orange with a diminished white head. Light cardboardish dry wheaty aroma, a bit flat. Sweet malty with a light fruity estery note on the back of the tongue. Lingering yeasty and mild wheaty touch with a lasting caramel malt note.

Bottle, 5.6%. 10 months past BB date. Very bready and quite plasticky aroma. Cloudy orange colour. Small white head. The flavour is bready, tastes old. Has a little plastic and some old yeast as well. Does not age well.

Bottle (purchased at the brasserie): Hazy, orangey coloured, smaller, quite stable off-white head, sweet wheaty nose with a mix of aromas of a vinous fruitiness , toasted malt and "oaky" hops; moderate sweet flavour with a light bitterness, medium bodied, soft smooth MF, yeasty-fruity finish with a delicate aromatic bitterness in the aftertaste. An unsual, outstanding Weizenbier.........

(bottle) Cloudy, orange colour with a medium-sized foamy white head. Sweet, bready malt aroma with a very restrained wheat-character; also orange fruity and moderately yeasty. Medium-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Barley-malty, slightly wheaty and fruity taste; sweet, minimal sour and light fruity finish. Rather unconvincing Hefe-“Weizen”.
