Said to be hoppier than a hopping mad hopi, our rather good Doctor Okell's takes the 200 year old tradition of the strong India Pale Ale to its ultimate, thanks to one of Dr Mike's finest brewing moments...

Doctor Okell's is an extremely light coloured beer with a surprising full bodied taste. The sweetness is offset by a very strong hopping rate. That gives the finished beer an over all roundness with very spicy lemony notes and a fine dry finish to counteract the initial sweetness.

Ingredients: All pale ale malt, hops, 1st Fuggles and First Gold, 2nd Hallertau and Saaz, 3rd Cascade and Styrian Goldings.

Clear and golden with a frothy white head and a light malt and citrus hop aroma. Pretty smooth with citrus hop bitterness on top of a light malt backbone, some floral notes coming through too

Handpull cask at Thomas Rigby's, Liverpool. As Okell IPA. Brownish gold, clead with a decent white head. Hay, angel food cake and a good dollop of sulphur in the aroma. Bitteraweet taste with some tannic hop and a medicinal astringent twinge in the finish. Astringent bitterness lingers in the aftertaste. A basic, clean and enjoyable bitter.

On tap in Port Erin. Again with the perfect solid head and slightly cloudy gold body. Soft aroma of graham cracker and hops. Flavour is subdued hops with cracker hints. Medium finish could use more body. But nonetheless a good casual session IPA.
