500ml can (Draughtflow system). Pale body with plenty of small bubbles from the nitro device. Foamy head. Not much aroma, some slightly roasted malt. Flavor is slightly roasted malt with a hint of caramel. The body is light and much to aroma. This nitro stuff makes the beer smooth, but it’s very one-dimensional. Noting really wrong here besides the thin body, but really boring in fact.

Draft: Citrus aroma. Amber pour, frothy head, and delightful cascading carbonation. Flavor is lemon, lemon peel, and a touch of vanilla. Ordinary hop finish. A tad thin.

Nitro tin. Failt malt aroma. Lekker pale amber colour with lasting white head, more due to the tin than the beer. Sweetish flavour, with a litle malt. Not very hoppy or bitter. Flat finish with some wateriness. Very ordinary, not good, not bad either

This is the preferred brew of Onslow, one of my favorite brit com characters. I’ve passed this up many times at the beer store because it was in a 16 oz can and it was $3. However, during the review of the kinds of beers I’ve tasted, I became aware that I never tasted the ’bitter’ style yet. As soon as I found that out, I was off to the beer store to pick up that can. This is a 16 oz yellow can with a pop top. Nice can, barrel with bees on it. It says it has the draught flow device inside. That must be the plastic thing that was in there after I completed the pour into my steeler stein. Pop the top and start pouring, there are lots of fine bubbles that makes it look cloudy during the pour. Has a yeasty arome akin to many wheat beers I’ve tasted. The appearance is somewhat like your tyipcal american beer but it may be a little darker, something like a yuengling. Very creamy whitish head, makes me want to touch it. Once poured there is absolutely no carbonation in the glass. During the first taste, I detect no carbonation either. Its like flat beer that sat out overnight. Hey, I’ve tried to salvage one or two beers the next morning in my day, I know what they taste like! The flavor is not as bitter as I expected for something called a ’bitter’, but it is bitter. IPA and imp stouts are more bitter than this. The bitterness does cover the flavor of any quality enjoyable hops or malts that may be in there. This stuff is really flat, I don’t know what Onslow sees in this. I need at least a couple of tongue tingles to satisfy. It must be my upbringing on processed macro brews. Finish is a medium astringentness that lasts and lingers. Cannot appreciate this brew, probably will not buy again.

I tried thsi beer because of the band the Macc Lads. Half of their songs are about how great ’Boddies’ are. Truly, this nice little bitter ale is quite good, both on tap and from the can. The head is very thick, which is actually a problem if your class is not big enough as mine were. The taste starts off as bitter and almost watery, but not quite. For some reason there is a metallic flavour at the end, even when it comes from tap. Maybe they just stored it too long.

Tap. Layered, swirling pour with a thick, firm head. Good, solid bitter beer. Anytime I get nostalgic for university in England, its one of these.

500ml can (Alc.4.7%). Clear, golden colour with a lasting creamy head. Malty aroma with an oily impression. Flavour has light notes of sweet fruit and hops. Short and light bitter ending. OK, but a bit pappy and too smooth.
