Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a golden color with a small off-white head. Has a malty hoppy pine needles aroma with some hints of grapefruit. Malty hoppy bitter piney flavor with some hints of grapefruit. Has a long hoppy bitter piney finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

Pour is a hazy orange with a average white head. Aroma is moderatly hoppy with some crystal malts. Flavor is again a very low hop with some malt and a soapy finish. Maybe this was a bad bottle but i think this was way off what a decent IPA should be.

How come I’ve never seen this around Pgh before today? On tap at Fatheads, $8 for a draft. Pretty much looks like a ubiquitous pale lager except that it has a decent head. Yep, smells like a good IPA, floral and piney. Big bitter initial flavor roto-tilling that borders on IIPA territory. OOOH-WEEE. Bitter lasting linger which reminds me of chewing on green grapefruit rinds. Terrible nasty and offnesive, right on style. Soapy mouthcoating bitter medicine finish which ruins my taste buds for a half hour.

Bottled. An unclear dark orange beer with small brown chunks of yeast under a fluffy lazing light orangey head. The aroma is aroma is very IPA-like with notes of pine needles. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of hops, pine needles, and oranges, leading to a dry bitter, grassy, and grapefruity finish.

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 16 Aug 2008) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Fruity, floral, fresh nose with orange peel, mandarin and apricots. Fruity, floral taste with notes of mandarin, orange, resin, grapefruit and a slightly grassy, floral finish. A fresh citrussy bitterness comes creeping after a while, balanced by a hint of grain. Medium body, fairly dry. Lovely hop character with stunning balance. Lovely beer!

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bright orange-amber color with a huge and towering orange-white head that is still there 1/2 an hour later. The aroma was a lovely mix of resin, pine and grapefruit - moderately sweet. The flavor was sweet and tangy with robust notes of pine, resin and grapefruit and a solid nut and caramel malt base. The finish is long, piney and fruity. Just a touch harsh and bitter towards the finish as it warms. Lovely.

Review from cvillebeergeek.blogspot.com.
Appearance: Honey colored pour with a large foamy head. Head retention is moderate and leaves a nice web of lacing behind. 4.0/5.0
Aroma: Major floral hop aroma here with a honey-like sweetness behind it. Subtle grain, vegetal and metallic notes. There is a sweetness that goes a little too far. 3.5.5.0
Taste: Wow. Not what I was expecting at all. Very bitter and dry. Hops are very assertive and have a grassy, grapefruit taste. And that would be a grapefruit with no sugar. Very subtle caramel malt taste. Metallic and pine notes show up here and there. This indeed be a hop bomb. 3.5/5.0
Mouthfeel: Prickly feel. The label claims this is extremely full bodied, which it’s not. It does have some thick, sticky qualities, but also comes across as little thin on the back end. 3.5/5.0
Drinkability: This is a beer for a narrow audience. If you’re into the maltier/sweeter IPAs, this one will disappoint. But, if you don’t mind a very bitter, very dry beer, this might hit the spot. The dryness doesn’t lend to a very refreshing feel. A fairly moderate 6.5% abv. 2.5/5.0
Overall: Well, it’s a good beer, but it will alienate some people. The hop profile isn’t bad, but it could use a little more malt backbone to balance. 3.25/5.0

Thanks to Skyview for sharing. This is the most impressive IPA I have had in as long as I can remember. There is a full and powerful pine and citrus aroma, this beer smells incredible. Sweet malt and sour grapefruit in the flavor, some more pine, and hops. Mildly bitter but more citrus and sour than anything else.
