Bottle & can: Pasteurised.
Ingredients: Dark roasted malt; hops; rice; maize; Asahi’s pure cultured yeast.
Japan’s favourite dark beer. Brewed in Osaka, Asahi Black is made from three different roasted malts. This gives it a rich, nutty flavour and makes it incredibly smooth-drinking. Unlike other, more bitter dark beers and stouts, it’s brewed in a process called bottom fermentation, which gives it a subtle, sweet edge and smooth 5% abv.

bottle gift from nice barman at the old "cafe lasse" at vesterbro, now an asian restaurant. clear dark brown, smooth very light brown head. faint roasted grains, faint metallic aroma. flavor is roasted grains, almost smoked, brown sugar, sugary roasted stuff. palate is pretty thin and watery overall a decent macro attempt at a black beer, but it do seem like they sort of economized most of the good flavors away. Abselutely decent cheap macro though.

Pours black with a small beige head. Mild aroma of lightly roasted malt and cocoa. That’s how it tastes too, with a little hazelnut in the slightly oily body. Easily the best Japanese beer I’ve had.

Pours very dark brown with copper highlights and a small tan creamy head.Soft, sweet aroma of roasted barley, tar, and faint hints of cocoa. Other than that, very clean.First up in the flavour department is some toasty and bready sweet malt, before a moderately roasty note kicks in along with some chocolate hints, with support the gently bitter finish.Carbonation is much too high, and the body is very watery.

Bottle. Pours with a small tan head over a dark brown body. Aroma of coffee, rice, biscuity. Bland and weak. Taste is light roast, adjunct filled, light ash. Thin, fizzy and forgettable except for the fact that they are charging $14.99 for a 6 pack!

Bottle. Near black with no head and slight carbonation. Sweet caramel aroma with a touch of roastiness. Flavour was much the same, with some chocolate thrown into the mix and a Camp Coffee finish. Ok.

Bottle. Very faint caramel aroma. Slight caramel and chocolate flavor. Way too fizzy and gassy. Thin too. Nothing finish. Drinkable, but not interesting. A bit better on draught. The label calls it Munich style, which would make it a Dunkel.
