Spearheaded by Lawson's Finest Liquids, Vermont Strong is an initiative to assist communities impacted by the devastating floods that ripped through the Green Mountain State this summer. All funds raised by the open collaboration go directly to The Vermont Community Foundation Flood Response & Recovery Fund. When Sean told us about orchestrating this effort back in August, we said it would be an honor to do our part — and now we’re elated to have Ocelot’s version of the beer out in the world.
True to the recipe outlined by Lawson’s Finest, our Vermont Strong is an updated old school American pale ale. 6.1%. Constructed from two-row brewers malt, pilsner malt, and a touch of white wheat. Fermented bright and clean with American ale yeast. And hopped entirely using varietals grown in Vermont by Champlain Valley Hops — first a touch of Magnum, then Chinook during the whirlpool, and finally Centennial and more Chinook after fermentation. These cultivars express the grapefruit, pine, and orange citrus you’d expect from their PNW counterparts, but the Vermont soil brings an unexpected twist of pineapple, lemon, and dark berry too.

16oz can pours a hazy orange gold with plenty of lacey white head. Nose has citrus and some floral tea, light grist. Flavors follow. Dryish finish. 6 4 6 4 12
