I farve kan Schwarzbier svinge fra Mahogni og over i de helt sorte nuancer. Når man ser den i et glas kan man let snydes, for med den meget mørke farve kan man man være tilbøjelig til at tro at det er en tung øl, hvilket ikke er tilfældet. En schwarzbier er forfriskende, men har alligevel lidt mere dybde i smagen, end du kender det fra de lysere øltyper. Men har på ingen måde den samme fylde og tyngde, som f.eks. porter og stout.

Bottle at Kolding ølmesse, 2009. Pours black with a large brown head. Nose is roast. Coffee, chocolate and ashes. Smooth and medium bodied. Quite a lot of taste for a 5,5 abv.

Bottle. Nice head with medium duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste are roast malt, licorice and notes of chocolate. This more like a light porter. Surprised they call this a schwarz.

Draught at EBF 2008, Copenhagen, Denmark. Clear medium black color with a average, frothy, good - fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, cofffe notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [120908]

(On tap) Black and almost opaque with a vague tint of red and a dense, creamy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt. Light-bodied with hard roasted malt, lightly sweet vanilla and a pleasantly soft mouthfeel. Subdued bitterness. 120908

Black with a small off-white head. Grainy malt, fresh wort and a touch of roast malt in the aroma. Sweet roasted flavour, some licorice - very plain.

Draught at EBF08 as Randers Sort. Faint creamy aroma. Very dark brown colour, seems clear. Good creamy light brown head. The flavour starts off a little vinous, turns quite roasted. Good creamy flavour and mouthfeel.

Draught at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. Almost black. vague tar aroma. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel. Roasty amd grainy with a bit of tobacco. Fairly low hop rate. A straightforward, quite simple but tasty schwarzbier.

From tap as Randers Sort. Pours dark brown to black with a lacing tan head. Aroma is roasted malt with a light annis seed note. Light acidic roasted malt, annis seed and mild spiced. Roasted and annis seed flavoured and mild spiced finish. Nice one.
