Cask @ Wetherspoon, Elgin. Appearance - hazy golden with thick white head. Aroma - some citrus hop, bit of grapefruit. Taste - some citrusy hop with biscuity malt. Very slight butterscotch, but only fleeting. Finish - bitter with some citrus, bit dry. Quite a tasty beer - I only noticed the diacetyl slightly and it doesn’t detract from the taste. It’s certainly a lot better than the ratings below - perhaps the bottled version is poor?

Bottle from Bottleworks. BBF 01/01/11. Oops? Pours hazy dark gold with a slight white head. Aroma is rather crisp and citrus. Flavor is light malt with some hop, and a flavor that suggested marine air. I’m thinking floral, but it’s far from perfumey. Bitter, but not strongly so. English that. I’m putting this down as a session bitter.

500ml bottle. Unfiltered orange-amber color. Big, fluffy off-white head. Slightly odd seawater aroma. Rather straightforward English Bitter. Mild, toasty malt backbone, touches of butterscotch. The hops are sort of one-dimensional, just giving some soapy balance. Sessionable, nowhere near a World Class offering.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a cloudy amber with a creamy off-white head leaving a neat lacework. Nutty aroma. Medium body, nuts and sweet caramel. Hops appear at first, but the sweet malts win. A decent quaffer. 080810

Cask at In de Wildeman. Hazy golden colour, almost no head. Very faint flowery aroma. Flavour is earth, grain, dust, cloying fruits, a hint of sulphur, bitter hoppy finish. Thin body, no carbonation. This brought back some RBESG 09 memories...

[500ml bottle from Majestic.] Amber with a thin white head; grassy hop aroma; smooth, oily, texture with some honeyed sweetness, and a dry bitter finish. A rather ordinary bitter.
