Bit fluffy, dark cream head over copper-brown to black beer. Sweet, wood, vanilla, chocolate, chocolate malt, coffeemilk. Drier flavour, ashes, hops, mild sweetness. Again lots of chocolate, black velvet. Every sip starts with dry ashes, then the taste sweetens, just stopping short of Doppelbock, if a pretty dry one. Feels light for its ABV, if very slick to chewy. Good carbonation. Surprising - has to be tried. Txs to Thom (and Eric)!

Bottiglia. Il gusto al naso è indirizzato verso pane nero, caffè e cioccolato. L'olfatto viene stimolato in maniera elevata e l'esistenza olfattiva è sufficiente. Il cappello di schiuma ha una scarsa tenuta La grandezza delle bollicine è medio-fine. Il colore è nero come la pece. Il corpo è strutturato. Il dolce è medio in buon equilibrio con l'amaro medio. La forza gustativa è elevata e permane in maniera sufficiente. Le sensazioni boccali finali risultano di birra beverina. Il retrogusto è di decente intensità. Al gusto vengono donati toni di miele, cioccolato, caffè, liquirizia, frutta secca, agrumi, frutta passita, prugna, rabarbaro, ciliegia, vino rosso, vino Porto e vaniglia. Alcol presente.

Bottle from Die Bierothek, Bamberg. Aroma is roasted malt, liquorice, caramel, dark chocolate, molasses, with a touch of tobacco and coffee. Flavour is sweet with a medium roasty bitterness in the finish. Body is medium. More of a Baltic Porter profile than Imperial Stout, a bit too much liquorice for it to be a real winner.

Can from random getränkemarkt. Black with a brown head. Aroma is sweet, roasted malt, cacao, smoky, livorice and coffee. Flavor is medium sweet and light bitter.

Die Optik, wie zu erwarten, tiefschwarz. Lediglich kupferrote Reflexe machen sich bemerkbar. Die hellbraune, feinporige Schaumkrone hinterlässt einen wässerig-flaumigen Eindruck und fällt rasch auf etwa 1 cm zusammen. In der Duftaromatik zeigen sich in erster Linie sehr kräftig röstige und leicht säuerliche Noten, die an Mokka und dunkle Schokolade bzw. Kakao erinnern. Der Antrunk kommt sehr weich, zart süß und unglaublich voluminös mit kräftigen herben Röstaromen von Mokka, dunkler Schokolade, aber auch Kakao. Am Gaumen präsentiert sich ein wuchtiger Körper mit leicht süßlicher und kräftig herber Röstaromatik. Noten von kräftigem Kaffee, Schokolade, Kakao, begleitet von einer zarten und passenden Säure schaffen hier ein richtiges Erlebnis. Ein Hauch vollreifem Steinobsts (Kirsche, Zwetschge?) scheint ebenso mitzuschwingen. Leichte Süße, zarte Säure und die Herbe, die in die überaus kräftigen Röstmalznoten eingebunden ist - es wirkt absolut harmonisch und meines Erachtens nahezu auf den Punkt gebracht. Selbstverständlich lässt sich so ein Bier nicht saufen wie ein mageres Helles, aber was Mundgefühl und Süffigkeit betrifft, darf man diesem Bier ein hervorragendes Zeugnis ausstellen. Im Nachtrunk wirken die röstigen Aromen scheinbar unendlich lange nach. Mokka pur...
