(On tap) Clear warm reddish amber with a dense and creamy off-white head leaving laces. Sweetish caramel aroma with a discreet whiff of smoke. Medium body, again with a rather high malt sweetness and some caramel notes before a dry edge of peaty smoke. The bitterness is a little brutal and crude and comes rather late. This hasn’t really got that much IPA chracter, but this is a daring and sympathetic experiment for a mainstream brewpub like Apollo. 290708

Draft. A red beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel as well as notes of beechwood smoke. The flavor is sweet and very smoked combined with notes of caramel as well as light notes of hops, leading to a dry smokey and slightly bitter finish. Much more smoked than IPA’ed.

From tap at the brewpub. Pours deep amber and slight cloudy with a tan head. Liqourice and light smoked aroma. Flavour is dry roasted and with a nice smoked note to the liqourice and caramel malt. A bit of the buttery house character can be sense but is subdued due to the other more intense notes. Caramel and liqourice finish. Smoke note disappearing later in favour of a pronounced bitterness and dry caramel malt base.
