Bottle. A clear, dark golden beer with a mid-sized off-white head. Malty and bready aroma with a fruity touch, quite nice, but actually rather boring. The flavor is much the same, bready and malty, with caramel sweetness and some fruity hops, finishing in the same way. Could use some more bitterness. Quite dry mouthfeel. I find the beer a bit on the bready side, sure drinkable, but a bit ordinary. (080823)

Clear bottle, 500 ml, purchased at the LCBO, savoured on December 21 2007; eye: copper, clear, slight effervescence, rather voluminous white head that falls rapidly, lots of lacing; nose: stale, grainy malt, Madeira-like; mouth: stale, grainy malt, Madeira-like, light hops, a bit of cardboard, finale is cardboardy but with a good presence of hops and a bit of malt, mildly bitter, lightly sweet, medium body, a bit thin, quite carbonated, light astringency; overall: so?

Frothy bubbly head over an amber-golden body. Fresh summer smell of citrus and honey. Lightly caramel start giving way to a floral and rounded hoppy taste with bitter ending (shared with CinnamonGirl and Magne, Sommarøya 17.08.2007).

Golden to light amber color. The aroma is malty, ordinary, with some white sugar and the hop comes out with some effort. The mouthfeel is thin, and metallic too, with light malt flavor, a quite strong bitterness, lightly aromatic. The final is dry and long. Average.

Bottled. Copperish amber colour with medium white head. Skunkyness along with hops , berries and fruits in aroma. Flavour is plesantly berryish and hoppy. Almost like it would be very bitter, but balanced up with sugar. Still I liked it very much. hoppy and slightly earthy finish.

Bottled (BB 04/2008)
Clear amber color, small white head. Woody-toffeish hoppy, slightly fruity aroma. Quite typical Shepherd Neame’s pasteurised bitter: Kentish oaky hops, a bit sweet in the beginning then dry woody finish. Also fruity and ashy flavors. Almost like Master Brew or Bishops Finger but more watery. Fizzy mouthfeel in the aftertaste.

When poured the first impression is of a lively, caramel coloured beer, with a large cream head; there is a grassy, summery aroma, and the taste has a citrus bite, leading to a biscuity aftertaste. Brilliant.

Golden amber ale with a thick white head. Initial skunky aroma followed by a light caramel malt with light herbal hops. In mouth, a rather light malt with some decent grassy hops, sustained and pleasant, very British. A light bitter for summer. LCBO July 2006.
