Can pour into nonic pint glass from Julio's Liquors. Appearance is clear dark brown (with ruby red with light source directly behind), decent sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger-width khaki head with poor retention and fair leggy lacing. Aroma is roasted malt, whiff of vanilla. Taste is roasted malt, mild anise, tart fruit, mild earthy bitterness. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with somewhat watery texture, average-to-lively carbonation (a bit stinging on the tongue) that dominates the palate, and mostly sweet malt finish with late earthy bitter. Overall, taste is more interesting than the aroma and appearance is nice. Palate is dominated by too much carbonation. OK.

Bottle shared by PinkZambia Clear dark brown. Light roast aroma. Mostly light sweet roast malt flavors. Chocolaty and easy. Lacking the sour bite of many porters. Very tasty

On tap at Uno’s, Shelbourne, VT.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown color with a slim bar pour’s kind of head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds leaving some light stringy lacing sliding into the beer.
The smell had a super hefty amount of bitter coffee beans and balanced with a decent sweet molasses - esque, perhaps syrupy sort of dark fruits.
The taste took the bitter coffee and it came across fairly roasty. A semi-wet yet dark fruity aftertaste leads to a dry finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat subdued but still good for the style and for me.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good coffee porter.

The taste is chocolate, green apple, roasted malts, nutty notes and mild hops. Medium bodied, quite drinkable.

Bottle at Chriso’s Fullers-Gales tasting, thanks to Leighton. It pours deep ruby-brown, with a thick beige head. The nose is sulphur, egg, roasted malt, charcoal and chocolate. The taste is chocolate, salted caramel, cola, roasted malt, tangy fruit, blueberry and blackberry, with a sweetish finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Interesting but tanginess and some sulphur on the nose suggest that this is not on its top form (I hope anyway).

Bottle I brought to chriso Vintage Tasting. Pours brown with a sturdy, beige foam head. Dusty cocoa and roasted malts in the nose. Lightly tangy cocoa and dark malts in the flavor, some mild leaves. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, some more light cocoa, though with this tanginess I don’t think this is top condition. Will try again sometime.
