Cask at Tapps, Conwy. Opaque chestnut. Frothy foamy off-white head. Aroma has light grains and malts. Flavourwise it also has a grainy, earthy bitterness. Tangy slightly sweet but ultimately sour berry edge. Underlying malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Bitter bitter but ultimately another twiggy bitter.

Taking a holiday around the British Isles, this is my first Welsh beer ever. Purchased a 500 ml bottle of Welsh Pride in a town that claims to have the longest name of any municipality anywhere. Okay. I open the bottle and pour I into a glass from the ship’s cabin and see a red-amber body with no head I can determine. No concern because there is an active carbonation. The smell is grain, strongly barley. A drink gives me more of the barley, cereal and straw. The sensation is unfortunately thin but there is a moderate bitterness for the style. Less than I had hoped for.

Cask at Moon under Water, Wolverhampton Pours yellow-gold with a good white head and good lacing. Hops and some citrus in the nose. Mouth is hoppy and lemon dominated, but also some hints of toffee. A bitter finish to round things off. A good solid traditional bitter
