Pours a deep, midnight black with a light tan head. Smells of coffee and dark chocolate and the mouthfeel is velvety smooth with flavors of roasted malts, oatmeal and warm bread. Dragonstooth is a very drinkable stout – satisfying but not heavy.

Lots of vanilla, roasted malt, sweet malty nose. And some caramel. Decent stuff.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Black with a tan head. Aroma of roast, coffee, a bit of dark fruits. Flavor starts sweetish with roast, dark chocolate, some coffee, finishes bitter. Medium to full-bodied. Good but not great.

Tap at Keyaki. Nose of cocoa, coffee, soy sauce. Black and a bit flat. Flavor is decent, cocoa, soy sauce. Nice but not that special.

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a glass. Black with medium light brown head. Aroma is dry toasty dark malt, medium body, medium carbonation, and little small-bubble lacing. Taste is roast dark malt, espresso, coffee, pine hops, and dry finish. Not my thing.

650ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a large, long lasting, brown head that laces. Roasted malt aroma with dark chocolate, coffee and vanilla. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla and a slight burnt note with hints of hops in a dry, bitter finish. Medium to full body with a smooth, creamy, oily texture and soft carbonation. Excellent. A world class Foreign Stout.

Bottle at Hatos Bar. Deep dark brown with a big soft brown head. Aromas of burned coffee, cacao and dark roasted malt. Taste is quite similar. Some astringent burned out notes as well. It’s OK I guess. Charred coffee bitterness on the finish. Body is quite thin. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dragonstooth Stout on 17 Aug 2015 at 22:04 - Score: 7

In this weeks edition of "I can’t believe I haven’t rated this", we have what I believe to be the first Elysian beer is ever tried. Was awesome then, way more awesome now. Draft pour pint at the fields location. Pours black with a thick tan cream head and lacing. I love a beer that feels like it would go good with my 5:30 am work alarm. The more coffee the better. The line has never been crossed for me, though I’m sure it’s possible. Light aroma of some roasted malt. Dark chocolate and bold coffee roast flavor. Very short sweetness late in the palate. Quite a fantastic brew here. Tune in next week.
