Black IPA – dark beer with a great punch of piney hops in the nose, a well-inserted bitterness, and a light chocolate finish.

Bottle [from Euro Swap no doubt, thanks to whoever sent it to me!] @ home. Opaque black color, medium sized beige head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, hops, moderately some dark malts. Tastes about the same: malts, dark malts, hops, soft roast, malt bitter. Medium body and carbonation. Very nice, a really good black IPA imo!

330ml bottle via djoeye. Dense beige head with fine retention and lacing Jet black body. Citrus and earthy malts on the nose. Well blended taste of liquorice, chocolate, pine and grapefruit followed by a long-lived,nicely roasted malt bitter finish. Well bodied. Much appreciated (Tromsø 21.08.2016).

Flaske 330ml. Drukket på Lillehøgda 24 Jul 16. Anskaffet av djoeye. Brunsvart. Pent kremaktig skum med litt farge. Spotlacing. God aroma av brent malt & frukt. Myk munnfølelse. Smaken sammensatt. Karamell. Frukt. Skarpt syrlig bitter etter hvert. Avslutter veldig tørt. Mye bunnfall igjen på flaska. Ga mersmak.

Tasted from the tap on the 11/07/2015 at the Caminha Artbeerfest. Dark brown color with a thin and persistent head. Aroma is hoppy, fruity and roasted malts. Nice smooth and medium body. Nice medium bitterness and balanced taste. Really nice Portuguese beer! Next one please!

Review based on the BJCP2008 guildelines (style 14A, adapted). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L050314. AROMA: very nice hop aroma with notes of mango and passionfruit. Mild background of roasted notes. APPEARANCE: dark brown color and almost opaque. medium beige head with good retention. TASTE: initial hop flavours with notes of mango and some passionfruit that transforms into roasted notes. medium-high bitterness that persists beyond a semi-dry and roasted finish. PALATE: medium-light body with moderate carbonation. OVERALL: a very good black IPA, with balance towards the hop aromas and flavours, putting in the background the roasted character.
