Hazy amber with a lasting beige head. Aroma is hoppy, moderate malty, sweet fruity and spicy. Flavor is moderate sweet and fairly bitter. The hoppiness suits this Belgian ale really well, balancing the sweetness perfectly. 311210

Very good yellow-beige head over hazy amber beer with orange reflections; end of bottle totally muddy. Aromatic nose with caramel, even toffee, parsley, coloured mlats. Bit of cacao powder & faint, unidentifyable spices. Quite toasted, roasted flavour with a bitterness that is partly spicy, partly hoppy, partly roasted malts, and keeps lingering for a long time backthroat. Bit of chestnut flour. Slightly burning MF, medium bodied; feels more carbonated than the visual. More than OK, if not my favourite, and certainly not even amongst Hornbeer products.

Bottle. It’s a rather flat one, just a film of beige bubbles on top of a hazy, orange-golden body. Slightly oxidized, fruit-syrupy nose with citrus and notes of alcohol. The flavor has a vegetal hint, but is mostly on the fruit-syrupy, citrusy side. Peaches, some alcohol and a little bitterness as well. The bitterness builds, and gets well balanced with the sweetness in the finish. Full-bodied. Sure, it’s a decent beer, but it sort of reminds me of a homebrewers attempt on a Belgian. (090730)

Bottled (BB 07/2010). Hazy amber color, small white head. Raisins and candy sugar in the nose. Sweetish, strawberry, some alcohol. Finish is boring sweet-flat.

Dark orange-amber with a slight haze. Moderate white head. Spiced aroma with accents of sweet malts. Rounded taste character combining yeasty fruits, spices and hints of liquorice. Bittersweet in the ending. Refreshing and soft (sampled from a bottle at CBF, 16.05.2009).
