On cask @ the Standing Order. Appearance - dark brown to black with orange chinks. Nose - chocolate, nuts and general roastiness. Taste - more of the same. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good creamy finish. Overall - a decent mild.

Cask @ White Lion, Heptonstall. Extremely dark with a creamy head. Has a fair amount of chocolate in this, but obviously not overstated given it’s a mild ale that is mild tasting.

Cask at the Flowerpot, Derby. Oily black with a thin tan head; aroma of sump oil and coffee grounds; greasy and sweet in the mouth with licorice and coffee flavours; a sharp dry coffee finish.

Cask conditioned at the White Lion, Bristol 10/5/07. Near black with a long-lasting tan head. Aroma was of dark fruit. Beer was smooth to drink with flavours of roasted malt and some residual sweetness. A pleasant pint.
