Cask at Square Bottle, Chester. Pours golden yellow with minimal off-white head and good lacing. Citrus is the mainstay of the aroma plus hints of kiwi and grapefruit. In the mouth it is quite bitter but with some underlying sweetness. Floral hops and summer fruits to the fore in the aroma with traces of grapefruit and bitter lemon coming later. Finish is slightly sticky. This is reasonable and quite refreshing. The citrus isn’t too prominent.

Cask at the Geldart, Cambridge. Mid-golden with a loose white head. Very little aroma at first; further sniffing reveals some passionfruit and banana esters. A pronounced bitterness crashes the tropical fruity sweetness party. This beer has a nice balance, even as the bitterness overtakes completely in the long finish. Light notes of banana, cantaloupe and marshmallow offset the intensity in the aftertaste. Flawed but interests nonetheless. There’s a fair bit of character once you scratch the surface.

Tap at the Pump House, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a hazy straw colour with a frothy white head and loads of clingy lace. The aroma is grassy hop, some yeast and citrus. The flavour is moderate bitter with a dry pepper spice, citrus, grassy hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
