A stout like no other. The antithesis of bitter Irish stouts, this is creamy, smooth with underlying chocolate notes imparted by generous amounts of roasted malts and oats. Pours with a dark body and ivory head. It’s a tall, dark handsome pint.

Gravicask, half-pint at St Albans Beer & Cider Festival 2023. Shared with Finn. Coal back in the glass, dotted spots on the glassware from a bubbly, beige head. Black malty aromas, roasted, promising. Chocolate malty flavour, hints of liquorice, and maybe some black tea leaves behind. Roasted endnotes, semi sweet. Nice. (St Albans, 27.09.2023).

Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Brown-black with mahogany highlights and a thin yellowy-beige head. Moderate fizz; this 'Spoons continues to serve beers in great condition. There's roastiness, chocolate and blackcurrant here. A good balance of juiciness and dryness keeps you coming back for more. A decent stout.
