Our classic export strength brown porter recipe, brewed with a mixture Simpsons double roasted crystal, red crystal rye and amber malts was conditioned on 150kg date syrup. Fermented with a kveik yeast producing additional dark fruit flavours. Layers of dark rich fruit from the malt, yeast and fruit combine to produce a complex yet drinkable porter.

Can to nonic glass.
Appearance: dark brown close to black color with a one finger's worth of khaki foamy head which slid off nicely to leave some messy lace
Aroma: dark fruits, dark roasted malts, some baker's chocolate, light coffee tones
Flavor: blends the prior noted aromas together roasty and bitter initially then adds in an ever so slight touch of sweet as I sipped the beer more; mild aftertaste of dark fruits, the baker's chocolate and coffee
Texture: light to medium bodied with some sessionability about it, some smoothness along my tongue; finishes fairly long with the smoothness of the dark fruits
Overall: I like this version of a porter and would welcome this one back.

Medium brown. Aroma hints at dryish, somewhat fruity porter. Soft and sweet. A bit of date? Sweet for a porter, light fruitiness. I get it, but it’s definitely not my type of porter. Goddamn it, kveik yeast.

Can via the online shop. Nearly black. Slim dense lasting pale beige foam. Nose has dates. Light roast coffee malt. Some vinous notes. Touch of vanilla from somewhere. Taste is semi sweet with a light twang of fruity tartness. Good depth of body with fine carbonation. Fruity light tart finish. Dates make me shit.

Keg at Cobbett's, Dorking. Dark and glossy. Dark brown tint. Creamy beige head. Aroma os sweet with a bitter edge. Dark fruits, molasses and coffee. Flavourwise it had low key polite sweetness amd a tangy berry and coffee edge. Underlying smooth creaminess. Medium bodied. Creamy with some sticky residue. Flat-soft carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Enjoyable easy going stuff.
