Bottle at home, from Beer District Buxton, 22/09/20. Black with a decent tan covering that stays for the show. Nose is roast malts, liquorice, sugar dusting, toffee, cocoa sprinkle. Taste comprises mellow roast, light coffee bean, cocoa powder, dried fruits, light blackcurrant notes. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light dryness in the close. Decent easy drinking stout but would have liked more coffee presence for a beer with said product in the name.

Cask at Alexandra, Derby There are malts in the nose of this one, plus a faint hint of coffee. Pours almost black with a small beige head. Good lacing too. On the mouth there is cherries, blackcurrants and liquorice, and a surprising fizzyness. Finish is dominated by coffee. Drinkable.

A fairly basic stout in as much as it doesn't do anything you don't expect bar one thing, but just a really good example of a dry, bitter chocolate and coffee stout. The one thing is the addition of the fuggles mentioned in the description and the little hoppy kick at the end is a pleasant twist.

Bottle. Archer Road Beer Stop, Sheffield. Clear, dark ruby red. Film and halo of beige head. Nose has liquorice. Some aniseed. Blackcurrant. Woody, light roast malt background. Taste is dry and light bitter. Fairly thin mouthfeel. A bit dry. Light bitter finish.

Cask @ Port Street Beer House, Manchester. Very dark red with a bubbly off-white head. Very easy-drinking stout as it’s light textured, but still retains fair roasted malts in both aroma and taste, and milky in the latter.
