Cask at Lime Kiln, Liverpool. Pours a hazy golden amber with medium sized off-white head. There’s summer fruits and mango in the aroma. In the mouth it is decidedly sweet – but otherwise almost completely tasteless ! All I could manage to find were some hints of tangerine and melon and a slightly sticky finish. Blandsville personified – not for me.

Cask at the White Hart, Aylesbury before heading off to see "Pretty Vacant: A History of Punk and New Wave" at the nearby Waterside Theatre. This is a golden-amber beer with a thin white head. There's a good malty base giving a lovely full body. Summer berry flavours are to the fore, with floral and orange hints around the edges. Sweetish but with some dryness in the finish. Really enjoyed this - I'm not normally a fan of Batemans brews (or of golden ales for that matter), but the mouthfeel and flavours of this one really hit the spot.
