Cask at Briar Rose, Birmingham. Not too keen on this one, it had a very malty-twiggy-nuttiness to it which was not for me. Some light fruitiness in the middle. Nice smoothness, drying finish, good lacing.

Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford – though have drank it before. Pours “bitter brown” with a medium sized almost white foamy head snf excellent lacing. There’s malts, biscuits and marmalade in the aroma. Sweet malts to the fore un the mouth initially as well, but some underlying bitterness is quickly detected too. Some traditional hops together with hints of ginger and herbs, leading to a slightly dry finish. This is a decent old school bitter.

Cask at the Allied Arms, Reading on 30th June 2023. Coppery amber with shallow pale tan foam and scant lacing. Rich malty aroma. Nutty malts and ripe berries in-mouth, and a finish of nutty malt. Light bodied with a zingy mouthfeel.

Hand-pulled pint in the Jewel of the Crown (Spoons), Bridgnorth on Sunday 21st August 2022. White head on a clean and clear light amber body. Decent blend, little more malty than hoppy, nice change from citrussy beers; this is more like a traditional UK bitter using older established hops that give a balanced semi-fruity bitterness which sit nicely with the malty base.

18/7/2019. Bottle shared at the South West tour bottle share. Bought at Inn At Home, Newbury. Pours pale amber with a bubbly white head. Aroma of fruit, malt, hops, straw and light buttery caramel. Medium sweetness with moderate bitterness. Moderate body, oily texture, average to soft carbonation.
