Handpull cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Slightly reddish brown, very transparent, with a loose cream/tan head. Forest fruits and freshly baked bread in the nose. Slight twiggy notes. Taste is bittersweet with a decent hoppy rush. Some bitterness at the back of the throat in the finish. A nice basic English bitter.

500ml bottle from Gloucester Services m5. Deep Amber colour with a white head. Aroma has caramel. The taste has this too, it’s a decent English bitter, but nothing that jumped out.

Cask at The Mermaid, St Albans on 28 September. Poured a clear amber colour with a dense off white head. Aroma of caramel, bread and nutty malt. Flavours are toffee, dark fruits and some hay dryness to balance. Finishes with grassy hops, dates and cocoa. Nothing spectacular, but pretty pleasant.
