12 oz. bottle, split with Matts_Property, pours a mostly clear amber with a small head. Aroma of treacle, toffee, plum, raisins and lots of candied sugar. Flavour is very sweet - caramel, candied sugar and plum - quite cloying on the finish as well. Decent, but not a good example of the style at all.

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark shade of amber with an off-white head. Raisin and banana aroma, caramel, toffee, and earthiness. Flavor of raisin, red grape, some earthy flavor, molasses, and banana. Finishes with a semi-sweet cereal flavor. Iβm quite enjoying this.

Older (2006-2007 bottle) via a trade. Pours with a murky amber-copper body and a nice, off-white head. Aromas are super malty, brandy, bread, marmalade, candi sugar, orange peel, lightly musty and vinous. Honey and bready, notes. Nicely aged. Raisins, very old balsamic and dates. Flavors of brandy, orange peel, alcohol, candied dates, cherry, brown sugar, lightly metallic, honey drizzled biscuits. Still a decent amount of alcohol. Very vinous. Rich, decadent, slightly syrupy. Still a bit of refined booze (mixed with oxidation). It comes across quite well. Medium bubbles. Decently sweet. Lingering, lightly alcoholic, brandy finish.

bottle about three years old - Pours light amber with a small off-white head. It has a rich malt aroma with dark fruit. The flavor is sweet malt with a blend of dark fruit accents. Complex, smooth, and full bodied, the 11.8% abv is noticeable but any harshness that may have been there when it was new is long gone. Excellent brew.

Pours hazy caramel color with thin off white head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of dark fruits, candi sugar and Belgian yeast. Dark fruit, bubblegum, clove and sugar flavors. A little heat from the alcohol. Not bad, but there are a lot of better widely available quads out there.

Appearance was bright neon orange, a bit hazy, with a tiny-bubble head and almost no lacing. Smell was apricots and caramel. Taste was malt, with strong alcohol showing through. Hints of orange peel. Mouthfeel was fair, not as full as the strength would predict. Overall, not bad, but there are too many better examples of this style to spend too much time with this one.

4th May 2008. Smooth and very sweet ale with that Belgian bubblegumness that is really something else not bubblegum. Offset by an underlying bitterness. Very drinkable.

bottle, pours a hazy light brown with a thin white head and lots of floating yeast. Aroma is sugary with some floral notes and honey. Nice sweet pale malt and honey flavor with light raisin and fig in the finish. Really a nice sweet and minimally bitter quad.

2002 12oz bottle aged the better part of 7 years. The aroma has turned outright port-like, rich alcohol and dark fruit overload. There is still a little carbonation, though certainly tapered off a bit. Brown sugar, dark fruit, and raisin flavor, maybe a touch of vanilla. This is some sipping beer, brutal but tasty. Really reminds me of Port wine, but is more drinkable. Hard to say if it really improved with age, as there are aspects I like about the fresh version as well. The rating is sort of inaccurate and unfair, because I would probably rate the fresh version higher.
