Pour is a muddy river water with a small white head. Aroma is a big dark fruit with a lot of raison and figs with some bron sugar and alcohol. Flavor is at first a huge sweetness. There is a ton of dark candi sugar here. Next I get a sugar covered plum with a healthy warming alcohol. This is way sweet but I do like the dark fruit that this beer has. Not a bad 12 oz bottle quad. Probably just needs more time to sit and let the sweetness subside.

12 ounce bottle into chalice, bottled on 11/6/2015. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red/copper color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, apple, light banana, pepper, clove, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and compelxity of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, apple, light banana, pepper, clove, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Fair amount of earthy/peppery yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, cherry, date, apple, light banana, pepper, clove, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted biscuit, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very smooth, fairly creamy/bready and slightly slick mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a small warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent quadrupel style! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Born on date of 11/18/2014, supposedly dead by date of 11/18/2019.
This was poured into a chalice.
The appearance was a ruddy red to brown color with transparent hues running around the bottom. A slim quarter finger’s white foamy head dissipated immediately. No lacing was left.
The smell started off with a sweet caramel malt running into Belgian spices of light ginger, cinnamon, and clove. Cherry based sugar lightly shows up.
The taste was moderately sweet and drawing in the spices to accompany and balance. A Belgian sweet and semi-spicy aftertaste leads into a quick sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a good sipping quality about it. Carbonated decently as a quad, spices tend to run along my tongue appropriately.
Overall, I’d say this was a pretty good quad. It hits everything its supposed to, I’d have it again.

Decent quad, lacking some of the body and wine like characteristics of the original. Fark and toasty with some alcohol warmth. Rerated 2001 bottle in September 2015. 14 year old bottle aged vey well, full and robust, tons of flavor, dark fruit. Silky body...just perfect
