Full flavoured amber bitter celebrating three English varieties of hops. One of the original core Elland beers and still popular today when it makes an appearance. One of Mr Protz 300 and at a time when Gyle 3,000 is about to fall on the Mash Tun floor. The perfect Yorkshire session ale.

(Cask at Gallows Bird, Espoo, on 2009-01-23) Amber and clear. Light toffee aroma. Full bodied and dry palate. Vegetables, sulphur, malts, toffee and bitterness in taste. Bitter aftertaste. I suppose there has happened some contaminations because of the sulphur flavours.

Cask-conditioned at The Castle, London EC4 14/7/08. Amber coloured with a decent, off-white head. Fruity malt aroma with a hint of earthiness. Full mouth feel with plenty of chewy malt, some solid fruit and a long bitter finish. Good.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 2 Aug) Colour is pale amber with a frothy head. Nose is fruity with a fresh, floral hop aroma, a bit like a rose garden. Taste is fruity, with malt in the background, notes of peaches and orange. Nice dry bitterness in the well-balanced finish.

Cask conditioned at GBBF Sat August 5th 2006. The beers were by now running out fast but this one had just come on. Bargee poured an amber coloured beer, with a citrusy, hoppy aroma. Taste was of a very fruity beer with plenty of flavour some citrusyness as well, not bad at all but considering the high marks that I have given my three previous E&S beers this one has blotted the copy book a little, not really in the same league as the KSA, July Morning or 1872 Porter.

Cask gravity at Red Lion, Snargate. Copper colour with thin off white head. Hay, citrus bitter. Dusty hop. OK bitter, some juicy malt. Not keen on the dusty hop though.

A dark orange beer with a huge orange head. The aroma is very hoppy and flowery, while the flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, flowers, and lemongrass, leading to a dry bitter end.
