Cask at the Spitting Feathers Taproom, Chester. Pours dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of light roast and chocolate. Taste is ashy, coffee. Dry finish.

Cask at Brewery Tap, Chester Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a tight cream head. Roast malts on the nose, whilst in the mouth the texture is creamy. Flavour is mainly chocolate with roast malts, cocoa and traces of fruit. Finish is bitter coffee grounds. There is very nice indeed โ got a bit of body to it.

Cask, half-pint at Imperial Tavern. Patchy fawn-coloured head, clingy lacing on the glass. Plain black in the glass. Cocoa nose, roasted. Mid-sweet chocolate malty flavours, hints of yeast and fruit towards the ending. Okay, maybe not in its best shape. (Worcester 06.07.2018).

On Tap at the Hop and Barley, Lincoln. Deep cola almost black colour with a thin tran head. Rich roasted malt aroma, and taste with a fruity bitter finish. Medium Body.

Cask-conditioned at the Hillgrove Porter Stores, Bristol March 2016. Dark brown in colour, with a slight, beige, head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malts, Flavour had more toasty malts, some coffee, leading to a dryish finish. Good.

Cask at the Elm Tree, Cambridge. Dark brown with a cheeky reddish hue. Slightly translucent. Small and quickly dissipating head. Aroma of smoked malt, Marmite, almonds and forest floor. Bland bittersweet taste with a hint of woodsmoke. Flat, weak, uninspired body. Doesnโt deliver as well as Iโd hoped.
