Back to Black is a dark brown, almost black, beer (9,5 % vol.alc.) that appeals to our imagination. Brewed with an IBU-bitterness of 100, the beer matures on foeder over a period of nine months before reaching it's unique taste.
Taste: This wayward porter brings you the perfect balance between sour- and bitterness.

Light roastiness, bit of sweetness, hint of sourness too and a nice sour stouty finish. Really interesting. Funk!

(Draught at Chez Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels, 18 Oct 2018) Dark brown colour, almost black, with foamy beige head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, caramel, coffee and sour berries. Malty, tart taste with notes of caramel, tart berries, coffee, vinegar, roasted malt and a tart finish with low bitterness. Almost full body, with a touch of sweetness. A bit on the odd side with a sour porter, but it's quite tasty. Nice one.

3 May 2019. At Dok Brewing Company, Ghent. Shared with Anke! Pours hazy brown-red with a lasting, thin, foamy, tan head. Aroma of red grapes, red apple, almond, wood, vinegar, brioche, earth, blackcurrant, black tea. Taste is medium fruity sour, red grapes & blackberries mixing with faint lemon & vinegar, sweetish apple & brioche-like maltiness underneath, bitter tones of hay, straw & herbs, a bit tea-like & earthy. Dry, earthy hoppy finish, lingering vinegar, grapes, blackcurrant, wood. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Unusual Porter to say the least, leaning more towards the sour side; won't always be my cup of tea but a nice brew anyway.

Dark brown colour, beige foam. Light roasty, malty along with woody notes, tannines, light tart. Very well balanced. Would not expect this ABV. Again a nice beer from De Ranke.

Bottle, october 2017. Color: Dark ruby, creme head. Aroma: Sourish, dark fruit, funk. Taste: Complex, fruity notes of dried dark fruit, red fruit and berries, Brett funk, leather, roasted malt, wood. Moderate sour, lactic, lightly sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Over medium body, below average carbonation. Bittery finish with cocoa and earthy hints. Hard to describe all flavours, but very nice, well balanced and complex.
