From cask at Bishops Arms, Malmö. Pours dark brown with a small golden glare and with a small tan head. Dark roasted malt aroma. Mild fruity accent beneath a deep dark and hardroasted malt base with a distinct liqourice note. Medium tolight body. Lasting roasted acidic flavour into a solid dark malty finish.

Cask at the Kings Head, Hythe, Kent. Black with a thin cream head; smooth and creamy and dry, but full bodied, and then vinous and sweet; before arriving at a dry finish with coffee, milk and chocolate. A very enjoyable, complex, porter.

Head is thin beige ring; body deep dark brown, just barely translucent. Faint, roasty, chocolatey aroma. Soft, dry, earthy burnt taste with roasty licorice notes and chocolate. Soft, mild mouthfeel. Dry, chocolatey stale aftertaste. Nice. (0.5pt cask at Ashburnham Arms, Greenwich. Update of an earlier rating from Bishop’s Arms, Gothenburg in February 2006.)

Rating added 1/24/2006Cask at The Bishops Arms, Västra Hamngatan, Gothenburg, Sweden.Almost no head, only the faintest smell, sharp taste that quickly goes away, followed by nothing until a surprising nice aftertaste mellows in. I probably won’t buy it again, but I’m not very used to porters, so might go back and try it once more in a while.3/3/4/3/8=2.1

Cask. Very dark brown colour. No head. Thin fruity flavour. Not my idea of a porter, but it is not bad.
