Bottled (75cl) Dark brown with beige head. Massive pressure on the bottle. Cellar-like aromas. Light sweetness in flavor, with a quite gassy mouthfeel. Small bitterness in the finish. (051104)

75cl bottle from Auchan. Dark ruby colour, tight lasting beige head. Liquorice, choc/coffee aromas. Nice in mouth. Lots of tasty malt. Some hop on end. Well crafted beer. Choc/coffee/liquorice on end

(Bottle 75 cl) Very dark brown, almost close to black. Full body with notes of roasted malt and chocolate. Sweetish with a discreet, bitter palate.

Dark amber color, big head. Light aroma of roasted malt and paper. Too simple taste, vegetable, very light roasted barley and caramel. Too simple palate.

A dark brown beer with a small fast disappearing head. The aroma is slight with notes of sweet malt and brewmash. The flavor is thin though sweet, prickling your tongue and has hints of black currant. It has next to no bitterness. A boring beer - try Ch'ti ambree instead.

Very dark brown. Brown head, creamy, not very stable. Nose of brown sugar and mocca. Taste is expressly liquorice and malt sugar, maybe again some mocca. Seems poorly attenuated. Watery mouthfeel, despite the malt. Aftertaste = liquorice. it is strange. Northern France is riddled with good bière de garde producers. The two topmost famous (Bénifontaine and la Choulette) brew piss-poor examples, yet everybody seems to swear by them.
