This traditional Oatmeal Stout is brewed with copious amounts of oats, which provide a beautiful creaminess yet still have a soft roastiness from the dark malts we include in our grain bill.

Bottle, source not recorded. Poured dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel and coffee. Moderate sweetness, medium roasted bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation.

Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Cloudy dark nut brown, small coarse head. Fruity roasty nose with some bubblegum. Fairly sweet with velvetty soft mouthfeel. Chewy, gently roasty malt gives a mouthfilling solid body and pleasant flavors of wheat bread, spuns sugar and chocolate. Gently warming finish with some light coffee bitterness.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm, 10 Nov 2008) Very dark ruby colour, almost black, with brief foamy brown head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of dark fruit, chocolate, wild berries and hints of port. Malty, fruity taste with chocolate, sweetened black coffee and dark fruit. Medium body, fairly sweet. Low carbonation makes it quite flat. Nicely balanced with a bittersweet finish. In short: bittersweet fruit and chocolate with a touch of port.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Clear reddish brown almost with no head. Aroma of hard roasted malt. Medium body with an almost absent carbonation, hard roasted malts and sweet dried fruit. Has a light malt bitterness in the finish. 230808

Bottle, thx to Brugmansia. Pours a clear, dark brown body with just some beige bubbles for a head. Roasted, bonfire sour, dusty nose with some coffee. The flavor isn’t very pleasant, it has a strange sourish bonfire taste, and some coffee and roasted malt pulling in the right direction. Medium body, flat and dry. The finish goes in the same direction as the initial flavor. Gone bad? At least it didn’t suit my palate. (080823)

Bottle. Blackish/purple beer with a sweet milky chocolate and roasted aroma. The flavour is quite watery at the finish, but at the beginning it is roasted, milky chocolate and slightly bitter. Overall an average beer.

Cask at GBBF 2007, CBoB firkin. A hazy dark brown beer. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel and lighter notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel and chocolate - like ice cream topping.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2007, London. Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, fruit. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is flat.
